I took some time to construct my own personal tech radar. It gives me a focused overview of things I want to start experimenting with and forms a nice conversation starter with techy people 😄
It's of course based on prior art like ThoughtWorks (triggered by their recent update) and the one we host at ITP (my current employer).
Is it super nuanced? Definitely not. Stages are primarly based on things like:
How fluent I am working with something
How interested I am working with something new
How much something costs
If I found a better alternative for the time being
It's in no way a reflection of things I dislike strongly. Each of these are good tools but some fit me better than others. e.g I feel hindered working in Python's language design due to how I shaped my DX experience in my head and developer ergonomics. It's certainly a very good programming language and tool for someone else.
Take a look around on my Excalidraw or the PNG below if that works better. If you're curious about anything, send me a thread (not a threat!) on Threads @thibmaek.
